Rooted in the Messiah

Colossians 2:6-7

Paul informs the Colossian believers that the life of faith is not only began by Christ but also sustained, nurtured, and developed in Him. To accept Christ Jesus the Lord is to fully embrace the Messiah together with His authority. However, welcoming merely marks the commencement. Paul urges the church to walk in Him, signifying that every step, decision, and endeavor should be influenced by the One who rescued them.

The Messianic promise is echoed here. The Messiah is not merely the gateway to redemption; He embodies the route itself. The concept of being planted and constructed invokes both organic and architectural images. Roots signify concealed resilience, imperceptible development, and enduring maturation. The process of being created signifies intentional construction, meticulously crafted design, and progressive development. In the Messiah, both realms converge. He is the sustenance of the soil and the bedrock of security.

Paul's focus on being grounded in faith is closely linked to the apostolic doctrine about Christ as the culmination of the Law and the Prophets. Stability is attained not via human endeavor or philosophical elaboration, but by keeping grounded in Him who embodies the revelation of divine wisdom. The Colossians resided in a milieu replete with compelling ideologies and spiritual diversions. The apostle urges them to counteract deviation by remaining anchored in the teachings they received, the gospel focused on the Messiah's identity and mission.

The chapter ends with a call to express abundant gratitude. Gratitude is not a secondary virtue; it is an indicator of spiritual well-being. A grateful believer exhibits confidence in the adequacy of Christ. When the heart is filled with thankfulness, the soul affirms that the Messiah is both the origin and sustainer of life. Thanksgiving serves as an act of reverence, recognizing that all blessings originate from Him.

Currently, this term is essential. To walk in Christ is to acknowledge that the grace that salvaged us is the same grace that molds us. A life anchored in Him endures tempests. A life founded on Him ascends with intention. The life founded in Him produces fruit that glorifies God.

Walking in Christ constitutes a perpetual manifestation of faith. Being grounded and established necessitates deliberate reliance on the Messiah. Thanksgiving exemplifies a heart attuned to heavenly veracity. Remain steadfast in Christ today, deriving strength from His presence, developing via His teachings, and expressing abundant appreciation as He shapes your life in accordance with His perfect purpose.
